Does WJW Counselling & Mediation provide specialized Children and Teen Therapy?
At WJW Counselling and Mediation, we provide compassionate, evidence-based counselling and therapy services for children, teens, and families in St. Albert, Edmonton, and Peace River, as well as virtual therapy across Alberta. Our therapists support children and adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioural, social, developmental, academic, and family-related challenges in a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate environment.
We understand that children and teens communicate differently depending on their age, emotional development, personality, and experiences. Some children express themselves through play, movement, creativity, or behaviour, while teens may need a respectful and emotionally safe space to process stress, identity, relationships, anxiety, or overwhelming emotions. Our therapists tailor therapy approaches to meet each child or teen where they are emotionally and developmentally.
Our child and teen therapy services support concerns including:

Our clinic includes specialized therapy spaces designed to support children and teens in feeling emotionally safe, regulated, and engaged in therapy. We offer a dedicated play therapy room for younger children as well as a sensory therapy room designed to support emotional regulation, nervous system calming, sensory processing, and emotional safety for children and adolescents experiencing overwhelm, anxiety, ADHD, autism-related challenges, trauma-related stress, or emotional dysregulation.
For teenagers, our therapists focus on building authentic, respectful therapeutic relationships where teens feel heard, supported, and emotionally safe. Teen counselling may focus on emotional regulation, coping skills, anxiety management, self-esteem, communication, social relationships, identity development, mood regulation, and resilience.
Parents and caregivers are also an important part of the therapeutic process. Depending on the child or teen’s needs, therapy may include parent consultation, emotional regulation education, communication strategies, and family support to strengthen attachment, improve communication, and support healthier family relationships.
WJW Counselling & Mediation also provides psychological assessments for children and teens, including ADHD assessments, autism assessments, psychoeducational assessments, and mental health assessments to help families better understand learning, emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs.
Our goal is to help children, teens, and families build emotional safety, resilience, healthier coping strategies, stronger relationships, and long-term emotional wellbeing in a compassionate and supportive therapeutic environment.
