Peace River Office
Hi, I’m Dona! I am Metis and respectfully acknowledge that I am located on Treaty 8 Territory, traditional lands of the Cree, Dene, and Metis people. I recognize the land as an act of reconciliation and gratitude for the land that I am honoured to live, work and play on.
I am a Registered Social Worker and have 30 years of experience supporting individuals and families in achieving their goals. I believe that each of us have the capacity to heal and transform our lives. I provide a safe, non-judgemental, and collaborative space for you to share, learn, grow, and heal. I am person centered, strengths based, and work from a biopsychosocial perspective.
I have experience supporting youth, adolescents, adults, and older adults, with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, life transitions, stress/burnout, healthy relationships, identity, grief/loss, and trauma/intergenerational trauma.
As a generalist, I use many evidence-based practices to promote self awareness and growth. Over the years, my work has been influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Solution Focused, and Motivational Interviewing. My practice is also informed by Polyvagal Theory, Response Based Practice, and Mindfulness.
I also have a special interest, and additional training, in restorative conversations, threat/risk assessments, and safety planning. In the past, I have worked with individuals who have been impacted by harm and those who have caused harm.
I am a registered social worker and my fees are direct billed to most medical plans. Please be sure to check your coverage prior to booking a session.
