Do you yell, storm out, throw things or slam doors when you get angry?

Have your relationships suffered because of your anger?

Anger is a natural emotional response and can be essential in certain situations. But for some, it can appear without warning or cause, become overwhelminguncontrollable and take over their life.

More than one in ten people (12%) say they have trouble controlling their anger

What is Anger?

There are many reasons why people get angry.

These can be internal events such as frustrations, injustices or failure; or external events such as humiliation, teasing or loss of privileges. People express anger in different ways as well. There could also be underlying causes such as depressionOCDADHDBipolar DisorderSubstance Use or Grief that trigger anger.

Some externalize their anger through verbal arguments or tantrums. Others may internalize behaviours through sulking or symptoms of depression.

Without having healthy ways to express their anger, both externalizing and internalizing behaviours can have detrimental consequences for physical health, quality of life and relationships.

It’s not possible to change your circumstances, but through anger management therapy you can learn to recognize your triggers and learn how to cope with them more effectively.
