Psychologist, MEd, R Psych
I began working as a Clinical Psychologist fifteen years ago in Brazil. In 2013, I immigrated to Canada to continue pursuing my career in psychology as well as becoming a Assessment Specialist and a certified play therapist.
I provide psychological assessments for adults , youth and children in the areas of Autism, ADHD, education, giftedness and behavioral. All of our assessments are comprehensive in order to provide exceptional clarity and firm diagnosis. They will also include recommendations and assistance with disability forms if necessary.
My personal life experience has given me insight into what children, youth and families face when moving to a different country, such as struggles with cultural issues, racism and other related experience. For this reason, I integrate a multicultural approach during counselling sessions.
In counselling I specialize in working with children aged 4 to 17 experiencing a range of social, emotional, and behavioural concerns such as anxiety, attachment issues, self-esteem, ADHD, autism, oppositional defiance, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), peer relationships, among other issues. I take a holistic approach when it comes to understanding and treating children’s mental health challenges by considering a person’s physical, personal, cultural, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being and their cognitive aspects when assessing their symptoms and making a treatment plan. When working with children and youth my goal is to support them, alongside yourself as their parent or caregiver, through a holistic and whole-person approach to meet the unique needs of the individual or family system. I work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure that each child and family are supported and connected to the resources needed to achieve their goals.
Due to my personal and professional experience, I particularly enjoy working with those who are new to Canada. As an immigrant myself, I am able to understand what children, youth and families face when they move to a different country such as struggles with cultural issues, racism, and other related experiences.
I also specialize in psycho-educational assessments including ADHD and Autism assessments and I work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure that each child or teen and family are supported and connected to the resources needed to achieve their goals. I would love to support you or your child on your journey, so please reach out with questions you may have or to book a session.
I began working as a Clinical Psychologist 10 years ago in Brazil. In 2013, I decided to immigrate to Canada to continue pursuing my career in psychology, but in a different country and culture. Having experience living and working in two countries, I have developed a passion for working with different cultures that have gone through a similar experience as myself. It has also encouraged me to adopt a multicultural approach in my sessions.
